Celebrating Diverse Voices in the Cancer Journey: A Narrative Medicine Approach
On Saturday, November 11th, we gathered to celebrate the culmination of our Narrative Medicine workshop series which engaged marginalized and under-resourced cancer patients and families in a series of online Narrative Medicine workshops.
The workshops explored Narrative Medicine’s role in fostering deeper conversations among group members who share similar experiences, in helping members cope with the harrowing experiences often associated with a cancer diagnosis, and in building community around a shared experience through close reading and writing together. During the celebration participants, students and staff provided readings of the reflective writings and poetry created during the sessions.
Thank you to USC Arts in Action, the Picerne Foundation, and all of our participants for their collaboration – it wouldn’t have been possible without you!
